Avery is a small community located about 4 miles below Arnold. The elevation is about 3400 ft. which is below the heavy snow line. It is located on State Route 4 and is home to the oldest continually operating hotel in the county, the Avery Hotel Restaurant & Saloon.

Avery Middle School, which was built in 1994 is located here and serves about 411 students from 6th grade up to 8th. You will find Avery Transfer Station where you can drop off your household waste. The main residential area is Ebbetts Pass Highlands with no current homeowner’s association.
